Low voltage track lighting heads are equipped with electronic transformer that converts the line voltage of approximately 120 volts down to 12volts, to make the voltage suitable for low voltage lamps (bulbs). Electronic transformers are low profile, light weight and energy saving. This state-of –the-art technology eliminates transformer “hum” and can be dimmed with regular incandescent dimmers. Low voltage fixtures takes halogen Lamp generally limited to 50watts except some are limited to 35 or 40 watts. Halogen Lamps provide whiter light and truer color than other incandescent lamps.
